On Sundays, we often visit the seniors in the Care Unit of Classic Residence. We walk with them in the park, host the afternoon tea cart visit, and facilitate a beauty nail care session.
Because the activities are always changing at Classic Residence, volunteers have the flexibility of choosing events of interest. To participate in an activity, volunteers should let Jennifer Lee know about two weeks beforehand so that she can coordinate it.

Snowmen S'mores - Fall Quarter 2008
We started this art project during the beginning of summer so that we had enough time to complete the ~120 individualized snowmen s'mores gifts by December. With the creativity of and help from the sisters of Sigma Omicron Pi at UCSD, we had snowmen that were decorated in every way possible. From a hula dancer to a reindeer, we had a truly amazing range of snowmen.
On Sunday December 14, 2008, we had the opportunity to pass out the gifts to the seniors at La Jolla Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Watching their faces light up made the work we put into the gifts worthwhile. It's amazing how the holiday spirit can warm up the soul.

^ Here's a picture showing the range of snowmen we have. I spy a mermaid, a Christmas tree, a penguin...

^ The sisters of Sigma Omicron Pi held a contest amongst themselves to see who could best take the basic snowman onto a whole new level. Here are the winners!
